Our
Mission
Our mission
at St. John's is primarily to share our Christian faith, our spiritural
life, through our services and fellowship with all people. We also
feel that St. Johns has many other things to offer. Our social and
fund raising events provide the opportunity to enjoy companionship
whilst helping to preserve the fabric of our lovely building and
frequently supporting a variety of good causes both at home and
abroad.
DURING
2006, several members of St. John's assisted with an event at Memus
village hall, organised by Fiona de Clay, which raised over £8,000
for REFILWE the South African childrens charity,
whilst other members assisted in CHRISTIAN AID WEEK
door to door collections. A further donation of £1150 was
made to REFILWE from sales of TRADECRAFT
goods in St.John's. Also in May an event arranged by our congregation,
held in our halls raised money for CAFOD (The Catholic
Fund For Overseas Development)
Our Diocesan
Lent appeal raised almost £5000 for JACARANDA HOUSE
ORPHANAGE in Swaziland. The cheque was presented
to nuns from the Order of the Holy Paraclete, who founded and run
the house, at a lunch hosted by our parishioners in May, at Easter
Ogil house, the home of Shelagh & Colin Millar. We endeavour
to promote good environmental practice through the principles of
the Eco-congregation guidelines.
We also hope to do our bit to make our country and the world a better
place by supporting such organisations as Christian
Aid.with prayer
and when possible, practical help. Please contact us if
you would like information about any of the organisations referred
to.

ongoing support of churches like yours helps our work to continue
to transform the lives of thousands of people in Uganda, Kenya,
Ethiopia, Tanzania, South Africa, and Southern Sudan. Be it through
loaning animals to help farmers build assets, improving irrigation
to increase harvests or developing crops that are resistant to droughts,
